NERF Rival x OVERWATCH Reaper Wight Edition blaster revealed! (SDCC 2018)

Blizzard Entertainment arrived at Comic-Con International: San Diego with a surprise reveal for fans of Overwatch®: a sneak preview of the NERF RIVAL OVERWATCH REAPER WIGHT EDITION blasterDesigned in the style of Reaper’s signature accessory in Overwatch, the blaster is not only true to the game, but also a fully functional NERF toy.
The Wight Reaper Blaster is the first in the series developed in a collaboration between Blizzard Entertainment and the NERF Rival brand to bring the iconic Overwatch accessories to life. Fans of the team-based action game will enjoy custom NERF RIVAL rounds with the Overwatch logo that are specifically colored for each blaster. The blaster will hold eight NERF RIVAL rounds, which it can propel at up to 90 feet per second. It will be equipped with a spring-action mechanism, a ready indicator, and a safety lock.
The NERF RIVAL OVERWATCH REAPER WIGHT EDITON blaster will launch in 2019.

Nerf’s made a pretty big move at working on Overwatch styled blasters. The game is still running strong in eSports circles, has a large user base, a large cosplay community, and a continually growing entity on all fronts. Just recently, a new hero was announced so the game continues to provide content, and the constant “nerfs”. It took a lot
Overwatch logo’d ammo? Color-specific? Could be collectible, if that’s what you like. No telling still on the price, but here’s hoping it avoids the price of some licensed goods as the Boba Fett or Deadpool Nerf Rival sets were at first.
Functionality wise, some folks are hoping for a hammer style prime. My guess is sliding pump-action under the barrel. There’s a chance that hammer could be a pull handle for a priming arm, but I hope that isn’t the case. It says 8 round magazine, and I’m thinking it loads from a door by the hammer, where that little piece sticks up.
Another theory (but maybe the least likely, considering the performance) is the blaster shoots two rounds simultaneously like the Nerf Rival Atlas. The barrels could be the indicator, but considering the performance of the Atlas on the second shot, I hope that’s not the case. Give me 8 good shots at 90 fps and don’t worry about multishot lackluster madness.
Ultimately, we won’t know until it hits prototyping, and by then it will hopefully be February if something hasn’t leaked by then. I don’t have much hope for the price to be reasonable, BUT there’s a good chance (as with the Deadpool blasters) that these blasters will be released in non-Overwatch skins for a bit lower price as well, that will just take time. What do you think? Play of the Game or utter Defeat?

Nerf ZombieStrike Rises at San Diego Comic Con! (SDCC)

So, first saw Atamaii‘s video pop up on Urban Taggers and here we are, ZOMBIESTRIKE.  FROM NERF.  At least through 2014.  Here’s the video followed by some screencaps of interest from the video (edited to properly link Atamaii’s web site in addition to the youtube channel and clarify screen caps came from Atamaii’s video) –

And he’s not the only one there! Jet of Nerf Mods & Reviews has her own blog, Blaster By My Side, where she chronicled what she saw.

Alright, so what have we got here?

The ZombieStrike Sledgefire

Unsurprisingly, reminiscent of the triple shot.  Obviously, the “shell” isn’t in.
Hammershot, I imagine it would fit in the SWEET REVENGE holster as well, but only one way to know for sure.

SIDEstrike/holster.  Accomodates the Firestrike as well apparently.

CROSSFIRE CROSSBOW

It… well, fires darts and has dart holder storage.  No surprises.  Still want one.

Fuse Fire.  Jury is out until I can try it.

Ricochet.  Small sidearm, supposedly a new Scout for people to use.

Targeting set (that’s the Vantage/Srike Blade in the front)
Look!  A new Jolt, and it has ammo holders!   Sweet!

Targets.  Zombie Targets with the Targeting Set.

Z-Bombs.  Looks like they were taken after the water bombs from Super Soaker
but retooled a bit.  I see a saw blade(?), a brick, that rocket looking thing
and what could be a proper football.  Also, you see the pouch to hold them.

Z-Bombs.  Word.

The pouch for Z Bombs.

A “Starter Kit” and the bandana.

NERF MACHETE

NERF MACHETE (AGAIN)

Unfortunately, it looks like everything is under glass.  A few more Target exclusives it looks like beyond the Hammer Shot and Sledge Fire, and I’m pretty sure I saw “Jan ’14” as a release date for some of those things above.  There’s a very good chance that this stuff will be out even before the New York Toy Fair, so cross your fingers that a good amount of this will be ready in time for the holidays even!

TL; DR –

SledgeFire – I’m wary about how the shells are going to work and play, but I’ll be able to judge better once I actually have it.  I just hope the shells will also be sold in a mission kit.

HammerShot – Now, please.

Crossfire Crossbow – See above.

Nerf Machete – See above and above.

Z bombs – So, instead of socks…?  But I like the idea of a foam brick to toss around.

Sidestrike/FuseFire/Ricochet/Targeting Set – I’m a little eh, but will reserve excitement for seeing them firsthand.

ZombieStrike Blade –  It’s…. a Vantage.  While I do like seeing N-Force ideas are not entirely out the window just yet (they did say it would be supported at last year’s party, so nice to see them come through in a way.)

Also….. NERF MACHETE.

Overall, I’m really looking forward to the line and can’t wait to try them out.  Between the Hammer Shot and the SledgeFire, that’s a good amount of innovation from the start.  If the Crossbow is comfy and the Machete robust, I will be a happy camper.

Vapor Deltas and Atlases? At San Diego Comiccon? SDCC?!?! (Also, where to buy it if you’re not at the show….)

So the Vapor Delta and Vapor Atlas are a couple of new offerings from Vapor that are pretty cool.  Disposable ammo, streamlined looks, and pretty decent performance out of the box.  Looks like there’s something cooking on their end at San Diego Comic-Con.   The Vapor facebook page might have more details on what they’re preparing, but it looks like a lot of blasters and ammo.  Lots of ammo.  If you’re at SDCC, I’m super jealous.  Enjoy your time there, and hope you find Vapor while you’re there!  If you’re not (like me) then you can still find a Vapor blaster (Delta or Atlas) online, and for a discounted weekend-only price!

(MOAR after the cut)

Been wanting a Vapor Delta?   It’s on sale NOW!  http://shop.razor.com/Vapor-Delta-500/

25% off for this weekend only!  (Call it an SDCC perk)  Do me a favor and tell’em Foam From Above sent ya, eh?

Key note here, SDCC’ers – “Cruisin’ the streets of Comic-Con with a stockpile of free blasters to share with some lucky friends. Catch the vapor mother-wave tomorrow around 3pm… if you can find us.”

Check out @vaporblaster on twitter, and the Facebook page noted above!

A sign, if I ever saw one.  And Wilfred cosplayers?  Of course, SDCC. (picture taken from Vapor’s Facebook page)

Another shot off the Vapor Facebook page; look at all those blasters!  Keep your eyes open!   The Vapor Delta is a favorite, for sure.

And seriously, Walking Dead Escape?  Yes please!
